August 15th 2022. WWE Monday Night RAW. Dakota Kai came to RAW. She destroyed. And she won. Most impressive of all like an Oracle she foretold it. With all her heart, she even gave her opponent some sage advice prior to their match. The night started with Bayley, IYO SKY and her confronting their Clash at the Castle opponents Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss and Asuka after Bliss and Asuka advanced in the tournament to crown new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. Dakota and IYO will meet Asuka and Bliss in a semi final match next week on RAW from Toronto.
Later in the evening, interviewer Sarah Schreiber decided to ask Dakota a weird question. Mac will tell you: One does not simply ask Dakota Kai weird questions. Hell, a person would stand a better chance at just walking into Mordor. So, Sarah asked Dakota what we can expect from her in her first singles match on RAW. If Sarah had watched any of Dakota's work prior to preparing her questions she would know. Our Captain elaborated some spoilers for clarification: She will win. Before Dakota -- who can add Oracle to her talents -- could address Clash at the Castle, her attention was diverted to her opponent for the night: 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke.
Dakota calmly told the frantic Dana she wouldn't get ambushed. Don't worry, she doesn't want your 24/7 title. She merely wanted to know if her opponent was ready for tonight -- if you recall Brooke was on the team that lost to IYO and Kai last week. Dana held back the nerves and stated firmly she wasn't afraid. Bayley and IYO slipped away to let Dakota have the floor. Our Captain offered some wise words to Dana: "Fear is a motivating thing. Maybe you should be a little scared." That was in fact sage advice to the champion who lives 24/7 in fear of losing her title.
Dana devoted her match to the veterans of the women's locker room. Announcer Corey Graves wisely pointed out that the fourteen year veteran Dakota Kai has been wrestling longer than Brooke has. Perhaps Dana should have used that fact to motivate her because she was in for a long, short night using whatever was driving her. Just seconds after the opening bell rang, Dakota escaped a waistlock with a pelee kick. She then nearly raked off Dana's flesh with a charging pump kick to the side of her face. Dana kicked out of a cover at two, however Dakota savored it: The pain had just begun.
I will take this moment to note that Corey Graves implied that Dakota might still be unhinged when pushed too far. We know that in the spring Our Captain had overcome the demons that plagued her mind for months. However, as we saw when she warned Mandy Rose that she was not safe: The Reaper slumbers deep inside if need be channeled. I don't think anything can motivate -- veterans or not -- against that.
Back to the match. Dakota delivered a running face wash to the delight of Bayley and IYO. She went for another cover but again just got two. This time she was a tad annoyed so Dana paid for it with a succession of Kawada kicks. Dakota followed with some feint kicks, taunting Dana to put up more of a fight. That actually motivated Brooke who delivered some offense including two short-arm clotheslines and a cartwheel elbow strike. Dana went to smash Dakota into the turnbuckle only to get her own head smashed. The end was nigh. Dakota struck Dana in the corner with the Kaio-Kick. A double hook of the legs on the cover and it was a win for Dakota Kai.
Dakota and IYO brought out the best Dana in some time last week. This week Dakota just brought a bit more. After the show, Dakota and her friends decided to give some of their free time to once again appear on the WWE Network post show RAW Talk. This week Kevin Patrick had the pleasure of conducting the interview. He was respectful and honored to receive that honor. In return, Our Captain and her friends were polite to him. Dakota felt great but tonight was simply a cherry on the top of an already successful few weeks. She reminded the division her group are here to dominate. To quote Our Captain's parting words for the night: "Believe it."
