Part 9 | The Diamond of the Day | Chapter 1 Finale

September 3rd 2022. Principality Stadium. Cardiff, Wales. Damage Control came to WWE Clash at the Castle to win whether they wanted to or not. You can rest assure they not only wanted to win, they needed to after the controversial loss Dakota Kai and IYO SKY suffered on RAW in the finals of the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Tournament. RAW Women's Champion Bianca Belair, Asuka and Alexa Bliss stuck their nose in Damage Control's business and played a part in them not winning the tag titles. The referee did the rest; time will tell if that situation is rectified.

Damage Control came out as a unit while Team EST came out to individual entrances. The fans were cheering on Bayley but it was the first time she actually teamed with her new allies and needed concentration. They didn't show her respect, instead continued chanting to heckle her. Show your Role Model some damn respect. Before I continue: Respect to Corey Graves for continually pointing out Dakota Kai is a world-traveled veteran of the squared circle.

Tensions exploded not even a couple minutes in with all six women fighting it out. Bianca went for her spring moonsault but Bayley and IYO wisely pulled her by the head to the floor during her handstand. Our Captain took a moment to mock Bianca's hand clap -- I'd argue she did it better than the EST. Back in the ring, Damage Control ended up in triple suplex position only to receive one from Team EST when Bianca made the last second save. Bianca followed it up with a cartwheel moonsault to all three opponents. Damage Control did a triple kick out. It was time for Control to assess the Damage on the floor.

Bayley tagged in IYO once Damage Control regrouped. After Bayley and IYO took turns at Bliss, Dakota was tagged in and Our Captain gave Alexa some corner boot choke before quickly tagging Bayley back in. Bayley's ring rust caused Bliss to take control and tag in Asuka, the two delivering a double team right hand and bulldog.

Asuka wasted too much time taunting Bayley and paid for it with The Role Model catching her foot on a kick and sweeping her to the canvas. IYO was tagged. Bayley provided a legal within five seconds distraction so IYO could ground Asuka with a springboard missile dropkick. Asuka and IYO traded strikes and unsuccessful pin attempts. IYO got control out of their scuffle and tossed The Empress to Damage Control's corner and tagged in Kai. Dakota slammed Asuka back-of-her-head first to the canvas and worked her over with an armbar and hip smashes.

Dakota slammed Asuka's head into the turnbuckle and tagged out. IYO and Bayley took turns getting in strikes. IYO connected with a springboard double knees in the corner. As Asuka tried to reach over to her corner, IYO tagged out to Bayley whom Asuka quickly tossed to the floor. Asuka tagged in Bliss who hit a tumbleweed off the apron. Dakota would stop her from inflicting any more damage by smashing Bliss against the barrier with a shotgun dropkick. Our Captain has been busting out some dope new offense this week! She took a moment to well-deservedly boast.

Back in the ring, Kai grounded Bliss with a suplex before whipping her to Damage Control's corner and tagging in IYO. But not without again poking fun at Bianca's booty slap taunt -- doing it better than The EST. Our Captain is a fire breathing dragon tonight. IYO and Bliss traded shots but IYO won out hitting her with a flapjack. Bliss would manage to take control from Control with a jawbreaker that sent IYO to her corner allowing Dakota to tag in. Bliss didn't see and struck IYO with a sunset flip bomb. But Dakota would smash her in with a running facewash.

Dakota went for a cover but Bliss kicked out. Bayley tagged in, got in a blow and tagged Dakota back in. They tried for a double team whip and splash in the corner but Bliss caught Bayley with a backdrop to the floor and took Kai to the canvas with a flying headscissors. Bliss crawled over for a tag but Bayley wisely pulled Bianca to the floor to prevent it. Bianca climbed back up only to get sent back to the floor by another shotgun dropkick from Dakota. Bayley followed tossing Bianca into the barrier. Back in the ring, Kai would lift Bliss onto her shoulders for offense, however Bliss countered with a DDT.

Bliss and Kai made hot tags to Asuka and IYO. Asuka came off the top rope hitting a missile dropkick that turned IYO inside out. Kai was knocked from the apron to the floor by a hip attack. Bayley charged in and was shoulder tackled to the outside. IYO tried to counter a bulldog from Asuka only to receive a drop knee strike, trifecta of backhands and German suplex. Asuka smashed her face with a sliding knee strike but Kai and Bayley thankfully made the last second double save on the pin. Now that's teamwork -- somethingEST the other team has been lacking.

Alexa tried to come to Asuka's aid only to receive a Bayley to Belly from The Role Model. The Empress caught IYO's kick effort but SKY rolled through to counter, sweeping Asuka to the canvas. Bayley was tagged in and held Asuka so IYO could deliver a Code Red. IYO tossed Asuka back up so Bayley could nail a basement clothesline. Bayley went for a cover but Asuka kicked out. Bayley was frustrated which allowed Asuka to ground her with a dropkick as she charged in the corner. With Bayley down, Asuka was able to make a hot tag to Bianca.

Bianca dominated with some of her favorites. Bayley took control, striking Bianca's eyes and made a desperation tag to Dakota. Kai tried for a German suplex but Bianca elbowed her off before returning her focus to Bayley since she didn't see the tag. Bianca put Bayley up for a superplex. Kai ran over to attack. Bianca somersaulted to evade and tossed Kai to the floor taking IYO with her. Bayley hung her head down from the top to lure Bianca in and moved so Bianca crashed. The Role Model tied Bianca's hair to the top rope. Hey, it's not illegal so fair game.

Unfortunately, Bayley's move backfired as Asuka and Bliss ran over and climbed onto Bianca's back to deliver a double superplex to Bayley. Bliss and Asuka rolled to the floor where Dakota and IYO were waiting to attack. IYO took them out with a springboard Asai moonsault. Back in the ring, Belair went to roll Dakota up for a pin only to lift her up and take off running for a buckle bomb. Dakota slipped off and kicked Belair, only to get struck by a right hand when Bianca shot back.

Bianca pressed Dakota above her and used her to swat IYO away when SKY came at her. Dakota would get tossed over Bianca's head with a fallaway slam. Dakota hung onto the ropes as Bianca struggled to pull her off forcing Belair to break before the five count. Kai went for a scorpion kick that Bianca caught, countering it into a nasty powerbomb. Bianca went to the top rope and tried for a splash, however Kai rolled away. Belair rolled through but got stung by Kai's scorpion kick this time. Bianca landed in the corner making her ripe for the Kaio-Kick. But she evaded it and lifted Dakota up for the KOD. IYO rushed up to the apron and pulled Kai off.

Bayley pulled Bianca's braid, giving Kai her shot to strike the EST with the Kaoi-Kick. IYO tagged in followed by a tag from Bayley making her legal. SKY crashed down on Bianca with her moonsault after Bayley nailed the EST with the Rose Plant. Kai rushed over to guard in case Bliss or Asuka who were out on the floor were able to come to it. Bayley stacked up the RAW Women's Champion to score the clean, decisive pinfall victory for Damage Control.

Damage Control showed cohesive teamwork throughout the match. They were a unit plain and simple. Team EST were three top notch competitors who showed some team work. But they didn't reach that next level like the unit did. Not their fault. Damage Control is just the damn good. Okay... it was Team EST's fault. I'm ashamedly biased. Bayley may have scored the pin but in a WWE Digital Exclusive she proved selfless, pointing out her entire team were responsible for it. She quipped they are all the RAW Women's Champion. An idea!

The castle was under siege. Dakota Kai, Bayley and IYO SKY took control. Damage was handed out, giving our badass ladies some revenge for last Monday Night. Bayley pinned the RAW Women's Champion whom she already had a title match scheduled against last summer before an injury sidelined her. I'd say she was already entitled to a title shot but now she's certified. Dakota and IYO have a claim regarding the Women's Tag Team Titles. Damage Control came to Cardiff to show they are in control and delivered. They were truly The Diamond of the Day.
