Part 8 | Damaging the Thread | Chapter 2 Finale

There was once a Seamstress who sewed herself a path to championship gold. She sat on top the throne of a kingdom of challengers whom had grown complacent. From the shadows, Three Saviors would emerge to bring back the hunger and desire: The Role Model, The Captain and The Genius. Victory over The Seamstress would come to The Role Model without the gold on the line, clouding The Seamstress with fear as she became unable to cope with her first loss in many nights. She would grovel to The Role Model begging for a battle to prove herself.

The Role Model made her wait, watching on as The Captain and The Genius defeated The Easily Distracted Fool and her Squire. It was their time to have the spotlight for The Role Model brought The Captain and The Genius with her to finally have such well-deserved light shined upon them. With their quest for gold fulfilled, it was time for The Role Model to claim hers. She would now give The Seamstress the battle she desired. The Seamstress can sew together many things but she cannot stop The Role Model from cutting the thread of her championship reign.

Saturday October 8th 2022. Wells Fargo Center. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. WWE Extreme Rules 2022. "The Seamstress" Bianca Belair defeated "The Role Model" Bayley in a ladder match to retain the RAW Women's Championship. Bayley was certain she had victory in the bag. WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Dakota Kai and IYO SKY did too. Fans of Damage CTRL had drinks poured to toast to our favorite ladies. Perhaps I started mine a bit early because I swear Nikkita Lyons who was seated at ringside had a Bayley voodoo doll. Of course, it may have just been the booze talking. Who knows.

I don't care how many kind mentions of Sasha Banks came from Michael Cole's mouth. That evil man is incensed on Bayley's downfall. Perhaps he had a voodoo doll under the desk. Half the crowd was against The Role Model. Thankfully, the better half were cheering Bayley on. I loved seeing some Damage CTRL signs including one with Our Captain on it. Bayley's advice was taken as the signs were big enough to spot on camera. I thought for a moment I spotted straw hat man in the crowd but it was just the green shirt guy. That is the fault of the booze.

Obviously, I'm the chronicler of Dakota Kai's Tale. I tell her story: The good and the bad. But I give credit where credit is due to others who are part of her story when they deserve it. So, I'll take nothing away from Bianca who put up and gave Bayley a good fight. Asuka and Alexa Bliss were removed from Bianca's corner on Monday Night RAW courtesy of Damage CTRL. Bayley asked IYO SKY and Dakota Kai to remain backstage because she had to do this one alone.

Bayley brutalized Bianca during the early going, sunset bombing her onto a ladder. Soon after she put her own body on the line, dropping an elbow off the apron to Bianca who was sprawled across a ladder. Bianca would take control after a KOD. Kai and SKY had to run interference, successfully forcing Bianca off the ladder. SKY and Kai started a beat down only to both wind up on Bianca's shoulders, dropped with a KOD. What turned out to be their sacrifice gave Bayley a chance to take back control of the match for a bit.

Unfortunately, Bayley's aggressive comeback would end with Bianca whipping her with her braid setting her up for a literal Ladder KOD. Bianca proceeded to climb up the ladder and grab the title to retain. Dakota and IYO comforted Bayley who still damaged the reign of The Seamstress with the hard-fought fight she gave her. There is always tomorrow and the days after. Bianca said in a post-show interview: This isn't done. She will soon regret saying that because what didn't destroy Damage CTRL only made them stronger. Fear the Wrath.

I still think though that Lyons and/or Cole had a Bayley voodoo doll...
