Chapter 8 Part 4 | Bayley's Bad Council

Monday Night RAW. April 24th 2023. Chicago, Illinois. Allstate Arena. This venue has historic significance in The Annals of Dakota Kai Lore. In June 2018, it was where for the first time in WWE she had a singles match in front of a large crowd. It served as the stage on which she made a violent statement in November 2019. Last December, perhaps the grounds where the ghosts of the rivalry ignited by that statement were finally buried. On that very same cold December night, Damage CTRL were on the path to regaining momentum that got halted on January 30th 2023.

The Ladies returned to Chicago having recently regained some momentum thanks to IYO SKY securing a RAW Women's Championship Match against Bianca Belair at WWE Backlash on May 6th 2023. Our Captain choose to be selfless and support her friend, even accepting her own loss to Bianca last week as a failure in order to move forward. Sadly, it's become clearer each week that Bayley is uneasy with Kai and SKY proving they can exist without her. On this spring night in Chicago, Bayley yet again needed to goad her own ego to the detriment of her team.

It started with Bayley bringing Kai and SKY with her to have some words with Bianca. Bayley spoke first as has become the norm, telling Bianca she better get ready for the title to be Ours referring to SKY and Bayley. She continued, hyping up the fact Bianca has never been in a championship match against IYO. The Genius of the SKY rightfully cut Bayley off, wanting to have her say and she did. Bayley didn't like the interruption. Neither did she like it when Dakota translated to Bianca that IYO wanted to face Belair tonight instead of waiting to Backlash.

Bianca accepted the challenge. Bayley laughed it off, claiming Damage CTRL would rather beat up Belair and two partners. Both Bianca and IYO clearly didn't appreciate Bayley interjecting her few cents in. But if that is what was decided, Belair was happy to oblige. SKY played along humoring Bayley. Dakota did too, a good friend to both Bayley and IYO yet she was taken a back by Bayley once again making decisions for IYO and her. Dakota was whisked off by Bayley as SKY stared down Bianca for a moment, a hint of respect between them.

Bayley acted happy as can be, singing and dancing along to the lyrics of the Damage CTRL theme as they made their entrance. It was clear from that, she was keenly aware Kai and SKY were humoring her with this match. She even tried to get a laugh out of Dakota, eager to defuse any tension.

Bianca brought familiar faces to Damage CTRL for this trios match in WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan. Ah, Raquel the bothersome itch Dakota just can't scratch. On the plus side, Kai and SKY defeated Morgan the last time they met in a tag team match at Allstate Arena. It was the massacre of Kai and Bayley in the early going until Dakota turned things around, catching Morgan with the Scorpion Kick. Kai lured a crawling Morgan to the ropes, where SKY struck her to the floor with a sliding apron dropkick.

Damage CTRL kept control for a bit including a triple team. Our Captain struck Liv with the Kaio-Kick after giving Raquel a cheeky "remember when I did this to you" glare and wave. Bayley tagged in, tagging IYO, then striking Morgan with a running knee lift. IYO finished the triple team, hitting Liv with charging double knees. The battle continued. Morgan would snatch control for her team but Raquel was down. SKY pulled Bianca from the apron and tossed her into the steps leaving Morgan without a partner to tag.

Liv kept control for her team, delivering a backstabber to Dakota. Raquel made it to the apron and tagged in. Bayley tagged in for her team. Raquel mauled her, coming close to victory with a corkscrew Vader bomb only for Dakota to make the save for her team. Raquel tossed Kai to the floor the long and hard way then powerbombed Liv out of the ring onto both Bayley and Dakota. Bianca came to it and tagged in. SKY took Raquel out with a springboard missile dropkick. Bianca got SKY up for the KOD but IYO grabbed the ropes, dropping to the apron.

Bianca caught a blow from SKY and smashed her face first into the steel ring post, crashing her hard to the floor. Bayley tripped Belair and made one last effort to secure a win for The Ladies only to wind up in the all too familiar position of getting planted with the KOD. Belair covered Bayley to score the victory for her team. Dakota stood in support beside her friend IYO as SKY screamed violently at The EST. Belair was oblivious to IYO's screams, celebrating the win with her partners. In defeat, a deadlier more dangerous IYO SKY had been awoken. Kai went over to check on Bayley.

IYO might have defeated Bianca to win the title. Or might have lost a competitive match. But Bayley's selfishness wouldn't allow IYO to have the spotlight on April 24th 2023. Bayley had to make this about her, using the excuse she was doing it for her girls. She just had to goad her own ego and it cost her faction a match which could have risked losing momentum for IYO. The Draft starts Friday. Backlash is near. Kai and SKY grow more weary of Bayley's snake oil each week. Whatever happens, this Chronicler's loyalty is to The Captain of Team Kick for this is her story.
