Damage CTRL Events of June 2nd 2023

IYO SKY and Bayley have Money in the Bank Qualifying Matches on the June 9th episode of SmackDown. Bayley faces Michin while SKY gets Shotzi. Both of The Ladies hold previous singles victories over these opponents. On the June 2nd SmackDown, SKY had a shouting match with new RAW Women's Champion Asuka as the world rejoiced at that long-awaited showdown coming closer to reality. Bayley noted Money in the Bank is every woman for herself, however was confident a member of Damage CTRL would win the match then the championship.

Bayley won the 2019 Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. This would be SKY's first Money in the Bank match, however in NXT she had won a multi-woman #1 Contender Ladder Match retrieving a contract in a briefcase. So, both SKY and Bayley have experience in such a chaotic match. The 2023 Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match will take place at WWE Money in the Bank on July 1st 2023 in London. It'll feature six competitors. As always, the prize is a briefcase containing a contract for a shot at any women's title that can be cashed in anytime.

On The SmackDown LowDown that followed the June 2nd SmackDown, Bayley reaffirmed a member of Damage CTRL would win but downplayed IYO's chances while putting over her 2019 victory to heighten her own. IYO was firm someone from Damage CTRL would win but clearly her. Bayley desperately babbled to avoid addressing the likelihood IYO and her will come to blows. There was so much tension present even a knife might not be able to cut it. But IYO looked so fed up with Bayley she may have wanted to cut her, figuratively speaking.

I hoped the bonds of sisterhood they share with the injured Dakota Kai might sooth tensions between IYO and Bayley. But that is highly unlikely. Now, the tensions will only heighten if they both qualify for Money in the Bank... or one does and one doesn't. Bayley, whether on purpose or inadvertent, cost IYO the RAW Women's Championship at Backlash. IYO hasn't forgotten. Bayley and all her babble may be her just biding time until she pulls the knife.
