Damage CTRL Money in the Bank 2023 Events

IYO SKY, Dakota Kai and Bayley are The Ladies in the Bank. The briefcase with the contract for a women's championship match anytime, anyplace, anywhere belongs to Damage CTRL. July 1st 2023. The O2 in London, England. Money in the Bank. The Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. SKY and Bayley wearing their Damage CTRL arm bands worked as a unit, facing adversaries of the recent past at every turn. Becky Lynch. Trish Stratus. Zelina Vega. And last but not least SKY's former tag team partner Zoey Stark whom IYO still doesn't like.

Bayley and IYO were finally alone in the ring. A ladder. The contract looming above. Conversing who should grab it. They both hurried up the rungs. Go figure it would be Bitter Time Becks who stopped them. That idiot Michael Cole stirring shit on commentary. The ladder match continued. Damage CTRL versus The World. Brutality. SKY found herself at the top of the ladder, her hand about to grab the briefcase. The ladder and SKY were toppled over by Bayley! Instinctively. It is every woman for herself. Even so, the right thing for Bayley to do would have been to stand aside, giving IYO a victorious moment. Perhaps what Bayley did wasn't out of instinct rather out of selfishness.

The Role Model picked up the ladder and climbed to the top, reaching a hand up to grab the briefcase. Becky hurried up the other side, using the hand that Trish had handcuffed like a mandible claw to force Bayley to the canvas. Lynch made her climb. Bayley recovered, hurrying up the opposite. SKY pulled Becky to the canvas but Lynch shot back with a big boot. It was down to Bayley and Becky. Fittingly, the very rivalry in which the dissension in Damage CTRL began to surface.

IYO grabbed the unoccupied end of the handcuffs and cuffed Becky to Bayley. The Genius of the SKY climbed up the ladder, over the body of Bayley who reached her hand up as IYO neared the top. Was she trying to boost IYO up the best she could? Or making a hopeless, last-gasp to stop her? Within seconds IYO SKY successfully retrieved the briefcase to win the 2023 Women's Money in the Bank Match. But were The Ladies as we've know them a thing of the past? Like the late Gorilla Monsoon would say: Highly Unlikely!

Bayley was encouraged by IYO to come out with her at the Press Conference. SKY was asked about the tension. IYO said firmly WE WON as in the group. Bayley agreed. SKY affirmed they are Damage CTRL and the briefcase is OURS as in belonging to Dakota, Bayley and her. Bayley stressed there was no tension and they were good before pointing out they won just like they said they were going to do. Numerous times I might add. Bayley and IYO gave each other a high-five. SKY and the press had a good-natured laugh noticing Bayley was still in the handcuffs. Bayley took it in stride.

I want to lean optimistic all is truly good within Damage CTRL. SKY expressed she was happy. But body language and the way Bayley said there was no tension hinted suspect. Perhaps, it was just old habits die slow stuff because everything after was smiles. Bayley gave SKY a round of applause when IYO revealed the winner t-shirt. The Role Model proudly held up their briefcase as SKY did the shirt. Bayley was going to carry the briefcase as they took their leave but SKY wanted to. Bayley teased no but obliged. No tension, just some Bayfection between friends.

In September 2022 at Clash at the Castle, Bayley quipped all of Damage CTRL could become Women's Champion. Fittingly The Ladies return to the United Kingdom has set that future in motion. Provided Bayley does the right thing. Bayley has always insisted she put Damage CTRL together to give IYO and Dakota opportunities. I've questioned with good reason if she did it to benefit herself. If Bayley had good intentions that went awry, now is her chance at redemption. To do the right thing. For Dakota. For IYO. For Damage CTRL.
