October 7, 2023. Indianapolis, Indiana. Gainbridge Fieldhouse. WWE Fastlane 2023. Bayley got IYO into it. IYO wanted to conquer it without her, however benefitted from her forcing her hand into it. The night ended with The Ladies in solidarity. This is the story of how they got there. It all began with Damage CTRL backstage on Fastlane Kickoff. Cathy Kelley asked IYO if she could give some insight into what her strategy was for her WWE Women's Championship defense against Asuka and Charlotte. Bayley predictably interjected instead of letting IYO answer.

Dakota and IYO weren't thrilled. Bayley put over how great IYO is leading into her saying SKY wasn't going to share her strategy. IYO politely but firmly interrupted The Role Model, telling her she has her own strategy for the triple threat match and doesn't need her help. Bayley looked sour, clearly taken aback by that. It looked like Dakota wasn't expecting IYO to say that either but unlike Bayley, Kai wasn't sour. She knows per usual that IYO can handle things on her own.

IYO took her leave. Dakota noticed that Bayley was sour about what IYO said. Our Captain tried to encourage Bayley that everything would be okay. Bayley was oblivious to Dakota then stormed off. Dakota sighed in frustration and took off after her, calling out to her. Later in the night, IYO SKY came to the ring on her own for the biggest match of her career against two of the most decorated wrestlers in WWE history. All three competitors left it all in the ring for nearly 18 minutes. IYO fought like the warrior she, dishing it out and taking it.

Deep into the match, IYO found herself in a heap on the floor. The defiant Bayley ran down to help IYO to her feet and encourage her to fight on. I'm sure I'm not the only one who dreaded something ill might follow. Fortunately, it didn't. Bayley gave IYO a boost into the ring but SKY turned her attention to Bayley, reminding her she has this. SKY turned her attention back to the action, eating a big boot from Charlotte that crumpled her back down to the floor. Charlotte would soon apply the Figure Eight to Asuka hoping for a submission win.

Bayley took advantage of the no disqualification rule, stealing the referee's attention so he didn't see Asuka tapping out to the Figure Eight. IYO came crashing down on Charlotte with Over the Moonsault breaking the hold. Asuka had no fight left in her. IYO covered Charlotte for the 1-2-3. And still your WWE Women's Champion IYO SKY. Bayley grabbed the title and put it around IYO's waist. IYO was overjoyed, grateful in this case that her friend defied her. SKY was all smiles, grabbing Bayley for a hug. Dakota came out for a beautiful group hug in the aisle. Bayley gave IYO's arm The Kiss of Bay.

Later that night, Damage CTRL were guests at the Fastlane Press Conference. There were a few questions but let us swift to the most important. Bayley was asked why she interfered after IYO asked her not to. Bayley explained that even though you have to listen to your champion, sometimes you got to do what you got to do for the TEAM. Bayley said she has all the respect in the world for both IYO and Dakota but nothing was going to stop her from helping IYO even though she didn't exactly need it.

IYO held no resentment for Bayley defying her. "I understand. You always try to help me. So, now I understand." Bayley was adamant Damage CTRL are always there for each other no matter what. She started to say it doesn't matter what IYO said (on the Kickoff) but quickly backtracked, saying it does matter but what she meant was IYO is champion and that's all that matters.

I know. I know. She's Mistress Snake Oil. You doubt Bayley then she proves you wrong except she's only made you think she has because she does something to make you doubt her again. Rinse, repeat. Why would this time be any different? Well, it sounded like IYO thought Bayley's heart was in the right place. Damage CTRL are sisters by bond. Sometimes sisters scuffle about stuff yet always find a way back to loving each other. Maybe that's all the months of tension have been. Perhaps, there needed to be some hell between them for The Ladies to reach paradise.

On the October 8, 2023 episode of The Bump, footage taped following IYO's victory at Fastlane was shown featuring Damage CTRL. IYO said the championship was her title. Dakota and Bayley agreed. But IYO had a change of heart, declaring the WWE Women's Championship was THEIR title. Dakota Kai, Bayley and IYO SKY embraced in a beautiful moment. This solidified it was never tension. It was a series of roadblocks fate put in front of them to bond them stronger together. Beware the Ladies. Fear The Wrath of Damage CTRL.
